The Local Government Association of NSW and the Shires Association of NSW are the peak industry bodies for Local Government in NSW.

They have about 60 joint staff who implement Executive and Conference decisions and provide research support for the policy positions and standing committees of both Associations.

Complete the NRM Survey of NSW Councils Online: NSW councils are asked to participate in a state wide survey on natural resource management (NRM). The survey aims to highlight areas where councils may need assistance and support in strengthening their delivery of natural resource management.

Planning Changes: The NSW Government has released draft exposure Bills which contain over 200 pages of changes to the NSW planning system. The Associations have a number of concerns with the draft laws, and have submitted an initial response on behalf of NSW councils and their communities.

Shires Conference 2008
Shires Association of NSW Annual Conference 2008: Latch onto the Affirmative, Eliminate the Negative, Accentuate the Positive and Register Now for the 2008 Shires Conference. Over 450 delegates from member councils as well as representatives of Regional Organisations of Councils meet to discuss and set policy for the coming year.
