Strong Synergies Draw Country Energy and LGSA Together
Country Energy and the Local Government and Shires Association of New South Wales (LGSA) sealed a three-year partnership in Sydney last night, which will help foster discussion about important community issues such as regional development.
The long-standing allies say their joint interests in accommodating the community's growing needs will help drive growth and prosperity in city, country and coastal areas.
Country Energy's managing director, Craig Murray, said the overriding aim of the partnership is to capitalise on the strong synergies between the two organisations and continue working together to benefit the wider community.
"Across all facets of our business, Country Energy is working closely with local councils, whether that is to improve local infrastructure, invest in new gas developments, trial emerging technology, help councils manage energy and water resources more efficiently or provide forums to discuss sustainability, cultural or environmental endeavours.
"Country Energy already enjoys strong relations with the LGSA and local councils across the state at a grass-roots level. This new partnership is a reflection of our commitment to local councils and the continued growth of the 1500 communities we support," he said.
Local Government Association president Genia McCaffrey "believes Country Energy's strong community values make it an ideal corporate partner".
Shires Association president Col Sullivan endorsed the partnership, explaining that the LGSA's relationship with Country Energy would "help make possible events such as Local Government Week, Cultural and Environment Awards, and opportunities for councils to network and discuss a range of issues affecting local communities".
About the LGSA
The LGSA provides leadership and advocacy for 152 metropolitan, regional and rural councils. The association also provides industrial relations and other specialist services to councils and promotes local government to the community.
