NSW councils are covered by the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2010 and the Local Government (State) Electricians Award.
Local Government (State) Award 2010
The Local Government (State) Award 2010 was approved by the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales on Thursday, 28 October 2010 and took effect on the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 November 2010.

On 16 August 2011, the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales approved a consent variation to the Local Government (State) Award 2010 to amend the following provisions: Overtime (Clause 18A(v)); Long Service Leave (Clause20D); Parental Leave (Clause 20G); Meal Allowance (Clause 14(xiii)); and Government Funded Traineeship wage rates (Clause 26E(xvi)).

Local Government (Electricians) State Award
The Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales conducted a review on 25th September 2007 of the Local Government (Electricians) State Award pursuant to section 19 of the Industrial Relations Act 1996.
