Current Awards

NSW councils that are not constitutional corporations are covered by the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2007 and the Local Government (State) Electricians Award.

Local Government (State) Award 2007

The Local Government (State) Award 2007 was approved by the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales on Monday, 22 October 2007 and took effect on the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 November 2007.

Since the 2007 Award was established, its provisions have been varied in respect of:

  • The Tool Allowances and Insurance Value at Clause 13(v)(a) and Clause 13(v)(d) respectively. These variations took effect on the first full pay period commencing on or after 8 July 2008. Circular Item No. 17 of the 11 July 2008 Local Government Weekly Issue pertains to this variation.

  • The Traineeship Wage Rates at Clause 24E (xvi). These variations take effect on the first full pay period to commence on or after 1 October 2008. Circular Item No. 4 of the 19 September 2008 Local Government Weekly Issue pertains to this variation.

Local Government (Electricians) State Award

The Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales conducted a review on 25th September 2007 of the Local Government (Electricians) State Award pursuant to section 19 of the Industrial Relations Act 1996.
